Terms of use
Finish Line Media · 220BPM (220bpm.com)
Version in force since 17 October 2026
Article 1. Purpose
These general terms of use (the "Terms") govern the use of the website 220bpm.com (the "Website"), published by Finish Line Media, a French simplified joint-stock company (société par actions simplifiée) with a share capital of 1,000 euros, registered with the Lyon Trade and Companies Register under number 998 982 763, whose registered office is located at 20 rue Lortet, 69007 Lyon, France ("FLM").
The Website is a running shoe comparison service based on runners' tests. It allows users to view tests, scores and rankings, create an account, publish tests and use the SoleMate assistant.
Browsing the Website is free. Creating an account, submitting a test or using SoleMate constitutes acceptance of these Terms.
Article 2. User account
Creating an account is free and reserved for persons aged at least 15. Each user may only hold one account, opened with a valid e-mail address.
The chosen username must not impersonate any person, use the name of a brand or retailer in a way that misleads other users, or be offensive or unlawful.
Users are responsible for the confidentiality of their login details and for any activity carried out from their account. They may delete their account at any time from their profile or by writing to contact@220bpm.com.
Article 3. Publishing tests
By publishing a test, the user undertakes that:
- the test reflects their real and personal experience of the shoe, which they have worn themselves while running;
- the proof provided (Strava activity screenshot or proof of purchase) is genuine and corresponds to the shoe tested;
- they only publish one test per shoe model, updated where appropriate;
- they disclose any connection with the brand or a retailer of the shoe tested, in particular if they are an employee, ambassador or partner, or if the shoe was provided to them free of charge;
- they have received no payment or other consideration for publishing a positive or negative review;
- the photos published were taken by them and do not show any other identifiable person without their consent.
Content that is false or misleading, copied, promotional, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, violent, sexual in nature, infringing the rights of third parties or unlawful is prohibited, as is any mention of health data, such as an injury, condition or treatment.
Article 4. Rights in published content
Users remain the owners of the tests, texts and photos they publish (the "Content").
They grant FLM, free of charge and on a non-exclusive basis, worldwide and for the entire term of protection of the rights, the right to reproduce, represent, publish, translate and adapt their Content, in particular to extract passages, change its format or translate it automatically, in order to distribute it on the Website, on the media published by FLM (marathons.com, mytrails.com, triathlons.com, stadion.com), in their newsletters and on their social media, and to include it in the calculation of scores and rankings. Content is distributed under its author's username. FLM may correct the form of Content, but never changes its meaning or rating.
This licence continues after the account is deleted, the Content then remaining published anonymously, unless a removal request is sent to contact@220bpm.com.
Users warrant that they hold the rights in their Content and indemnify FLM against any third-party claim in this respect.
Article 5. Moderation
FLM is not required to monitor all Content, but each submitted test is checked before publication, with the help of an artificial intelligence tool, the decision being taken by a member of the team. How this check works is described on the page How tests and rankings work.
FLM may refuse, hide or remove any Content that breaches these Terms or the law. A test is never refused or removed solely because it is negative. When Content is refused or removed, the user is informed of the reasons for the decision. They may challenge it by writing to contact@220bpm.com within six months: their request is reviewed by another member of the team.
In the event of serious or repeated breaches, in particular the publication of fake tests or falsified proof, FLM may suspend or delete the user's account, after warning them except in urgent cases.
Article 6. Reporting illegal content
Anyone may report Content they consider illegal or in breach of these Terms by writing to contact@220bpm.com. The report must state the precise address of the Content, the reasons why it is considered illegal and, except for certain serious offences, the name and e-mail address of its author, together with a statement confirming that it is made in good faith.
FLM examines each report diligently and informs its author of the action taken. Manifestly unfounded and repeated reports may no longer be processed.
The address contact@220bpm.com is also the Website's single point of contact for authorities and users, in French and English.
Article 7. SoleMate assistant and recommendations
SoleMate is an assistant based on artificial intelligence. Its answers, like the Website's scores and recommendations, are provided for information purposes only. They may contain errors and constitute neither a guarantee of performance nor medical advice. Choosing a shoe remains the user's personal decision.
Article 8. Merchant links
"Buy" links lead to third-party merchant websites, some of them through affiliate links. Purchases are concluded directly with these merchants, under their own terms. FLM is not a party to these sales and is not responsible for them.
Article 9. Intellectual property and database
The Website, its brand, methodology, scores, rankings and the database of shoes and tests are the property of FLM and are protected by copyright and by database producers' rights. Any extraction or reuse of a substantial part of their content, in particular by automated means, is prohibited without FLM's prior written authorisation.
Article 10. Liability
For Content published by users, FLM acts as a hosting provider and is only liable if, having become aware of its manifestly illegal nature, it does not act promptly to remove it. Each user is solely responsible for the Content they publish.
FLM endeavours to ensure access to the Website, but cannot guarantee permanent availability. It may suspend all or part of the Website for maintenance or security reasons.
Article 11. Personal data
The processing of users' personal data is described in the privacy policy.
Article 12. Changes to the Terms
FLM may amend these Terms. Account holders are informed of any significant change by e-mail or on the Website before it takes effect. Continued use of the Website after that date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Previous versions remain available.
Article 13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, users may send a complaint to contact@220bpm.com. Users who are consumers may also use, free of charge, the following consumer mediator: AME Conso, 197 boulevard Saint-Germain, 75007 Paris, France, www.mediationconso-ame.com, after having first tried to resolve the dispute through a written complaint to FLM. Failing an amicable settlement, the dispute is brought before the competent court under ordinary rules. In the event of any discrepancy, the French version of these Terms prevails.
